Unemployment, illness and accident insurance

* Disability - This insurance covers an insured person should they not be able to work due to some form of injury or illness that keeps them from doing so. It gives the person financial assistance to keep up with their monthly expenses like the house payment or credit card debt. There are both long- and short-term policies that will help people in these situations, however long term disability, because of the cost of premiums being greater, are usually given to such high income professionals as lawyers and doctors. Shorter term disability policies will protect people generally over a six-month time period, issuing a monthly amount to take care of the medical bills and those expenses necessary for basic living.

* Long-Term disability will keep paying for a person's needs up to a time that is is decided the disability will be a permanent situation and beyond. Insurance carriers will typically try to get a covered person back into the workforce preferable to admitting that they are permanently unable to work.

* Disability overhead will cover the overhead costs of a business owner should they become disabled and unable to run their business.

* Total permanent disability policies will pay a person who is disabled for life and not able to work any longer. This type of insurance coverage is typically used along with a life insurance policy.

* Worker's compensation covers either a worker's entire paycheck or at least some of it, along with any medical costs involved when that worker is injured on the job and has to miss work for a duration.
